Dear ISEE Community:

Due to the limitation of the Yocto operating system, I search for the crontab to do automatically some operations, but there is not the crontab install. I go to the file /etc/zypper/repos.d/isee.biz.repo, to search in the repository http://downloads.isee.biz/denzil/rpm if there is this paquet listed to install. Another problem is that if I want to install another paquet that there is not listed here, why I can install it?

I need to use the cron or the crontab to do periodically some activities (for example, synchronize the system clock using ntpd because it's wrong or a backup of my files). For this question, what you recommend to do? And if I need to install another software or tool for the system, what can I install?

    Hi,

In the repositories there is available the cronie package, so you can install it with :

    zypper install cronie

Yocto it's not an embedded Linux distribution or operating system is an amount of tools to create a custom embedded Linux distribution for you or your product. In our repositories there is only the tools/packages what we use, so don't expect everything goes there. The advantage of use Yocto is that you can create a really customized embedded system adapted to your requirements, the problem is that you need time to learn this (and do this your own). If you are unsafe working with Yocto you can use a general purpose distribution like Ubuntu/Linaro, See

    http://labs.isee.biz/index.php/How_to_get_the_Linaro_distribution

As Linaro is a general purpose distribution comes with a lot of packages that you can install using apt-get.

    Hope it helps.

    Dear Isee Community:

I'm using Telit Modem (connected to Vodafone) to connect my board to Internet and I've Vodafone DNS Servers working properly:

    root@igep00x0:~# cat /etc/resolv.conf
    nameserver 212.166.210.80
    nameserver 212.73.32.67

    root@igep00x0:~# ping 8.8.8.8
    PING 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8): 56 data bytes
    64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: seq=0 ttl=47 time=1637.514 ms
    64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: seq=1 ttl=47 time=645.031 ms
    64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: seq=2 ttl=47 time=417.710 ms
    64 bytes from 8.8.8.8: seq=3 ttl=47 time=441.030 ms
    ^C
    --- 8.8.8.8 ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 4 packets received, 20% packet loss
    round-trip min/avg/max = 417.710/785.321/1637.514 ms

Maybe the problem is that some file parameters are incorrect. Could you please me say which files are used to communicate with servers and whic are the files they contain? I've tryed to install sqlite and I can't do it:

    root@igep00x0:/etc/zypp# zypper install sqlite
File 'repomd.xml' from repository 'isee.biz' is unsigned, continue? [yes/no] (no): no

Warning: Disabling repository 'isee.biz' because of the above error.

If 'zypper refresh' don't success you don't have and updated database of the packages and you can't install packages. So first of all, make sure that zypper refresh finishes ok, And remember that with the following question "File 'repomd.xml' from repository 'isee.biz' is unsigned, continue?" you always answer no, but you should always answer yes. I tried several times to do a 'zypper refresh' and after that install 'cronie' and work for me.
